Khammam Municipal polls: Congress secures 60th ward in recounting
Congress candidate challenged the result and returning officer, G Venkat Reddy had to order recounting of votes, after which Niranjan won the seat by a margin of 11 votes.
Khammam: The Congress tally in Khammam Municipal Corporation (KMC) election touched 10 after the party’s 60th division candidate, B Niranjan, won the seat following recounting of votes.
After counting of votes polled in the division, CPI candidate, A Korivi won the seat by a margin of 10 votes. But Congress candidate challenged the result and returning officer, G Venkat Reddy had to order recounting of votes, after which Niranjan won the seat by a margin of 11 votes. Following the development the CPI tally reduced to two from three.
In another development Congress candidate for 45th ward, N Deepak Chowdary resigned from the party following his defeat in the election in the hands of TRS candidate B Srinivas. The TRS candidate won the seat by a margin of 34 votes.
