Khammam: Officials asked to prepare blueprint for Covid-19 vaccine drive

Collector wanted the officials to prepare the data of frontline warriors-healthcare professionals like doctors, MBBS students, nurses, paramedical staff and others

Khammam: District Collector RV Karnan has directed the district officials to be prepared with an action plan for Covid-19 vaccination programme. He held a meeting with the District Task Force Committee to review the logistics arrangements and  preparedness to carry out the vaccination in the district after the vaccine was released into the market.

Collector wanted the officials to prepare the data of frontline warriors-healthcare professionals like doctors, MBBS students, nurses, paramedical staff of ASHA and Anganwadi workers, Ayush staff and those supervised quarantine centres for the first phase vaccination.


For the second phase vaccination the officials should be ready with the details of police, revenue, municipal, CRPF, NCC and panchayat raj department officials. For the third phase, the details of people above 50 years age have to be readied, Karnan said. On the lines of the District Task Force Committee, mandal level committees have to be set up with the MPDOs as in-charges to make arrangements for the vaccination. ITDA officials, municipal officials and panchayat raj officials have to look after the areas in their domain, he noted.

Steps like prior inspection of cold storages to store the vaccine, uninterrupted power supply to cold storages and primary health centres, creating a vaccination hub at mandal headquarters connecting primary health centres have to be taken, the Collector suggested. Special care should be taken for the disposal of bio-waste after the vaccination, he added.

ITDA PO P Gowtham, Municipal Commissioner Anurag Jayanthi, DM&HO Dr. B Malathi, District Immunisation Officer Dr. Alivelu, District Hospital Superintendent Dr. B Venkateswarlu, IMA Secretary Dr. Kurapati Pradeep and others were present.
