Khammam police arrests four involved in YouTuber Boggula Srinivas murder
Khammam police have arrested four persons in connection with the murder of YouTuber Boggula Srinivas, whose body was found in Palair reservoir. Investigations revealed that financial disputes and a GST fraud involving Rs 90 lakh between Srinivas and his associate Mekala Venu Madhava Reddy led to the crime.
Khammam: Kusumanchi police have arrested four persons involved in the alleged murder of a YouTuber Boggula Srinivas, who was found dead in a car in Palair reservoir in the district on February 14.
Speaking to the media Khammam Rural ACP, Tirupathi Reddy informed that the financial disputes between the deceased Srinivas and his friend Mekala Venu Madhava Reddy of Kukatpally in Hyderabad led to the killing of the YouTuber.
He said that both the deceased and the main accused Madhava Reddy committed a GST fraud worth Rs 90 lakh using the GST license, BOGGULA BBQ owned by the deceased person, with equal share in the earnings.
But Madhava Reddy paid only Rs 15 lakh to Srinivas promising to pay the remaining Rs 30 lakh later. In due course Srinivas’s GST license was cancelled; notices were issued to Srinivas and Madhava Reddy from the GST department.
Then Srinivas was reported to have demanded that Madhava Reddy pay Rs 30 lakh due to him and to activate the GST license for which Rs 1 crore has to be paid as penalty. It led to disputes among then; following which Madhava Reddy decided to eliminate Srinivas.
The main accused allegedly plotted to kill Srinivas with the help of Pokala Koteswara Rao, Shaik Abdul Hafeez and Mohammed Azmathali Khan. An amount of Rs 5 lakh was paid as supari to kill Srinivas.
As per the plan the deceased was taken in a car on February 13 night on the pretext of paying his dues in Vijayawada. During early hours on the next day he was killed at an isolated place in between Nakrekal and Jangaon with knives and iron rods.
Later to make Srinivas’ death look natural, the body was thrown into Palair reservoir along with the car. A case under Sections 103 (punishment for murder), 61 (criminal conspiracy), 238 (tampering with evidence) read with 3(5) of BNS was registered at Kusumanchi police station. The accused confessed to their crime, the ACP said.
It might be noted that Srinivas had become popular after publishing a book ‘Pawan Kalyan Hatao-Politics Bachavo’ in 2014 as the book created a sensation in the Telugu States. He received death threats at the time of the book release. He belonged to Alluru village of Nandikotkur mandal of Nandyal district in Andhra Pradesh and was residing in Hyderabad.
