Khammam police seizes 113 kg ganja worth Rs 56.5 lakh, arrests four
Khammam Two-Town police and the EAGLE force seized 113 kg of ganja worth ₹56.5 lakh and arrested four Maharashtra residents. Police also seized two vehicles, four mobile phones and cash, while launching a manhunt for two absconding accused.
Khammam: Khammam two-town police and EAGLE force team have seized 113 kg ganja and arrested four persons smuggling the substance.
In a statement here on Thursday, the police said that acting on credible information, a joint team comprising the two-town Inspector Balakrishna, EAGLE team CI Vijay, two-town SI V Ramesh, and police personnel intercepted two vehicles at Khammam bypass road.
Upon inspection of the vehicles ganja was found concealed in their trunks and dashboards. The worth of the seized ganja was said to be Rs 56.50 lakh. The accused hailing from Maharashtra purchased ganja in Alluri district of Andhra Pradesh to transport it to Maharashtra.
The accused Ravi Jadhav, Gopinath Sukle, Santosh Thayappa and Mohan Bhikaji Jadhav all residents of Osmanabad district, Maharashtra were booked under Sections 8(c) r/w 20(b) (ii) (C), 27A, 29 of the NDPS Act.
A manhunt has been launched to nab the two other accused, Basu alias Vasu, the ganja supplier of Alluri district and Bhausahab Yadav Kshirsagar, the owner of the rented cars. Two vehicles, four mobile phones and Rs. 850 cash were also seized by the police.
