Khammam prepares for kharif paddy, cotton procurement
Collector Muzammil Khan directs officials to prepare for the 2024-25 procurement season and make arrangements based on the mandal-wise arrival of the agricultural produce to the markets.
Khammam: The district administration has been gearing up for kharif paddy and cotton procurement in the district.
District Collector Muzammil Khan directed the district officials to be prepared for the 2024-25 procurement season and make arrangements based on the mandal-wise arrival of the agricultural produce to the markets.
The Collector said that it was estimated that more than 6.77 lakh metric tonnes of paddy would be produced in the district, out of which more than 4.29 lakh metric tonnes of paddy would be brought to purchase centres. It was planned to set up 236 purchase centres.
The Collector said that facilities such as humidity testing machines, paddy cleaners, weighing machines, tarpaulin and others would be made available at every procurement centre. Gunny bags would be available as needed based on paddy yield.
Regarding cotton, it was said that the crop was grown on 1, 99,700 acres of land and 1, 79,730 metric tonnes of cotton production was expected. Five Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) procurement centres along with 10 centres at ginning mills were being set up.
