Khammam: Puvvada warns of action over delay in development works
He along with MA&UD Department principal secretary, Arvind Kumar, District Collector, RV Karnan and SUDA Chairman, Bachu Vijay Kumar held a high-level meeting in Hyderabad on Monday to review the development works in KMC.
Khammam: Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar has told the contracting agencies executing development works in Khammam Municipal Corporation (KMC) to speed up the works.
He along with MA&UD Department principal secretary, Arvind Kumar, District Collector, RV Karnan and SUDA Chairman, Bachu Vijay Kumar held a high-level meeting in Hyderabad on Monday to review the development works in KMC.
The minister and the officials have discussed the issues related to drinking water supply situation, Gollapadu channel modernisation, integrated vegetable and meat markets and Vaikunta Dhamams at the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Kumar expressed anger at the delay in the works and cautioned that action would be taken against the contracting agencies that failed to complete works as per schedule.
About Rs 192 crores under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) Scheme were released but the contracting agency’s work was not up to the mark in executing the works.
The contracting agency failed to complete Elevated Level Service Reservoirs (ELSRs) that were crucial in building up storage capacity and in restoring roads damaged due to pipeline works, the officials told the minister.
Issues like leakages, improper pressure and others were not addressed to stabilise the pipeline network already established. Hence the engineer-in-chief (ENC) was told to initiate action against the agency for the delay and unsatisfactory work, the principal secretary informed.
On Gollapadu channel modernisation, a proposal was made to the State government for sanction and release of Rs.15 crores to develop greenery on the land around the channel and creation of street vending zones wherever feasible.
The officials informed the minister that sites have been identified for development of three integrated vegetable and meat markets in Khammam. With regard to Vaikunta Dhamams, two graveyards were being developed with all facilities.
