Khammam: Raghunadhapalem village in Khammam district set to become a pilot solar village to promote the use of renewable energy. District Collector Divakara TS informed that steps are being taken to install one rooftop solar power system in every household on a pilot basis to make Raghunathapalem a fully solar powered village.

He inspected the solar model project currently being implemented in Raghunadhapalem village on Tuesday. He sought details from officials regarding the progress of the solar rooftop systems being installed across the village.

According to officials there are around 1,081 Gruhajyothi scheme beneficiaries in the village, and 821 households have been identified as suitable for installing solar rooftops. To date, the installation of solar rooftops has been completed in 110 houses.

Divakara stated that the district administration is moving forward with the objective of installing a solar rooftop system with a minimum capacity of 2 kilowatts in every house. He directed officials to prepare an action plan for installing solar rooftops on the roofs of community halls, government buildings and other public spaces in the village.

The Collector also told the electricity department officials to install an additional transformer in the village along with any necessary supplementary electric poles. Measures are being taken to facilitate the sale of surplus electricity generated by integrating rooftop solar plants with the power grid.

It might be noted that in October 2025, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka asked the TGNPDCL officials to prepare proposals to set up solar power panels at major irrigation canals, floating solar projects at medium irrigation projects and in endowment lands as well.
