Khammam: Rich tributes were paid to a trade union leader Mekala Sangaiah on his 6th death anniversary here on Saturday. At a programme at CPI district office the party leaders B Hemantha Rao, Potu Prasad, Mohammed Salam and others offered floral tributes to the trade union leader. Speaking on the occasion the leaders said Sangaiah dedicated his work to the cause of labourers’ rights.
Sangaiah played a key role in establishing hamali workers union, cinema workers union, senthi workers union and others. He always stood at the forefront in fighting for workers rights, the CPI leaders said. At another programme at Munnuru Kapu Hostel, TRS senior leader Gundala Krishna, SUDA Chairman B Vijay Kumar, Munnuru Kapu Sankshema Sangham Trust Board Chairman Mekala Bikshamaiah and others paid rich homage to Sangaiah.
Krishna opined that Sangaiah all his life strived for welfare of the common people and working class. Following his ideals and moving forward with unity for the development of the Kapus would be a true tribute to Sangaiah. The sangham leaders Kalishetti Vijay, Narsaiah, Shetti Ranga Rao, Ponnam Venkateshwarlu, Pasupuleti Nasaraiah, DSP Narsaiah, Mateti Nageswarao, Mekala Sreenu, Mekala Nagender, Mekala Ravi and others were present.
