Khammam: With the measures taken by the State government Covid-19 positive rate has come down to eight per cent from 33 per cent in Khammam district, informed Transport Minister, P Ajay Kumar.
The Minister chaired a meeting here on Wednesday to review Covid situation, issuing of ration cards and paddy procurement in the district. He said lockdown imposed by the government and door-to-door fever survey has helped to contain the spread of Covid.
Ajay Kumar directed the officials to increase vigilance in Madhira and Sathupalli mandals where the Covid positive rate was high. The number of medical teams has to be increased in the border villages in those mandals and lockdown should be imposed strictly, he suggested.
Referring to issuing of new ration cards, the minister told the officials to process about 18, 768 applications pending in the district and take steps to issue the ration cards at the earliest as per the government decision.
On paddy procurement, the minister said about 3.42 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was procured so far in Yasangi season and steps have to be taken to procure and transport the remaining 6,372 tonnes have to rice mills by June 15.
Ajay Kumar directed the district officials to identify and acquire the land required for setting up a food processing zone in the district. The special food processing zones would help to process paddy and other food grains locally, he said.
MP, Nama Nageswar Rao, ZP Chairman, L Kamalraj, DCC Bank Chairman K Nagabhushaiah, MLA L Ramulu Naik, District Collector, RV Karnan and others were present.
