Khammam: Unable to digest the growing support for Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao among the farming community, BJP leaders in the State were making baseless allegations against the TRS government, TRS leaders said on Wednesday.

The BJP government at the Centre was known for its anti-farmer attitude, and the saffron party leaders have a history of killing farmers by running vehicles over them when the latter were protesting peacefully in support of their demands, said TRS senior leader Gundala Krishna on Wednesday.

Speaking to press persons along with the party city wing president Pagadala Nagraju and youth wing district president Ch Krishna Chaitanya, he said before State formation, farmers faced many troubles but the Chief Minister transformed agriculture into a profitable avocation.

While the BJP was killing farmers and harassing their families, the Telangana government led by Chandrashekhar Rao was supporting farmers and their families with schemes like Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima.

Farmers in the district volunteered to organise Rythu Bandhu celebrations in a manner at the directions of Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar. As an Agriculture Minister, Singireddy Niranjan Reddy attended the celebrations.

It was sad that the BJP leaders steeped so low that they were even criticising the farmers’ celebrations. The BJP leaders seem to be jealous of the growing public support for Ajay Kumar, who was spearheading the development of the district, Krishna and others said.

If the BJP leaders were sincere in their concern towards farmers they should persuade the Centre to buy all the paddy harvested in Telangana, the TRS leaders said. They said the teacher transfers were taking place in a transparent manner and BJP leaders should stop cheap criticism for political gains.
