Khammam: Students sensitised to police duties at ‘Open House’ programme

Khammam: Students were sensitised to the duties of the police at an ‘Open House’ programme organised here on Tuesday as part of the police commemoration week.
The ‘Open House’ organised at the city armed police headquarters was inaugurated by additional SP (admin) Naresh Kumar. He explained to the students about weapons used by the police, how they were operated and how the police personnel strive to protect law and order.
The students were also made aware of the various advanced weapons used to prevent the gathering of anti-social forces and their functioning like tear gas shells, wireless sets, body-worn cameras, equipment used by bomb disposable personnel, procedures to detect cyber crimes, breath analysers and communication equipment.
A demonstration of the method of police detection of criminals in the case of thefts and murders, the method of detecting bombs was made. Stunts by bog squad, demonstration on detecting criminals, bombs and how the sniffer dogs followed their handler’s orders made the students thrilled.
Naresh Kumar narrated the significance of police commemoration week. Modern equipment used by police, clues team, firearms like .303 gun, 7.62 mm self loading rifle, 9 mm pistol, carbine, MP-5K submachine gun, 0.22 rifle, 5.56mm INSAS, AK- 47 and tear gas gun were displayed.
