Khammam: TRS leaders accused the Congress of promoting rowdy politics and obstructing the government’s welfare programmes.

Speaking to the media at the TRS district office here on Thursday, Stambhadri Urban Development Authority (SUDA) Chairman Bachu Vijay Kumar said on May 21, a doorstep distribution of Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak cheques was carried out in various divisions in Khammam city. While cheques were being distributed in the 57th division of the Khammam Municipal Corporation duly following Covid protocols, a Congress leader, Mohammed Mustafa, husband of local corporator Mohammed Rafitha Begum, created a ruckus obstructing the distribution.

“It is not right to promote a culture of violence in the city. People will not forgive those who obstruct welfare schemes and terrorise the public,” he noted.

Meanwhile, mild tension prevailed in the city as a few Congress workers staged a dharna at the two-town police alleging that Mustafa was taken into custody.
