Khammam tahsildar gets two years jail in bribery case
A special ACB court in Khammam sentenced a tahsildar Gundla Narasimha Rao to two years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 for accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 from a farmer in 2011.
Khammam: The special judge for the special police establishment (SPE) and Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Kshama Deshpande sentenced a tahsildar to two years of imprisonment in a case involving the acceptance of a bribe from a farmer.
According to the ACB Khammam range DSP, Y Ramesh the accused Gundla Narasimha Rao, who served as the tahsildar of Nelakondapalli in Khammam district, demanded a bribe from a farmer in 2011.
ACB officials laid a trap and apprehended Narasimha Rao while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 from the said farmer for issuing a no objection certificate (NOC) for agricultural land. He was arrested by the then ACB CI, Venkateswara Rao.
Following the trial and arguments presented in the case, it was established that tahsildar Narasimha Rao had indeed engaged in corrupt practices. Consequently, the judge pronounced a verdict sentencing the tahsildar to two years of imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 10,000.
The ACB DSP Ramesh, CI Sekhar, public prosecutor Jyothi Reddy, court constable Narasimha Rao and others provided assistance in the prosecution of the case.
