Khammam: Three youths washed away in NSP canal, one body found
According to Khanapuram police, four youths from Manugur in Kothagudem district came to Khammam in an auto-rickshaw on Monday to meet their friend who was under judicial remand at the district jail.
Khammam: Three youngsters were washed away in the NSP canal at Danavaigudem in Khammam urban mandal in the district on Monday. The body of one of them was found on Tuesday.
According to Khanapuram police, four youths from Manugur in Kothagudem district came to Khammam in an auto-rickshaw on Monday to meet their friend who was under judicial remand at the district jail. The youngsters, Ronda Venkateshwarlu, Challa Ramesh, Katta Prasad and Bandaru Bharath, after meeting their friend in the afternoon visited the house of Ramesh’s relative at Danavaigudem, where they consumed alcohol.While going back to Manugur they stopped at the NSP canal for a swim. Venkateshwarlu refused to enter the canal and slept in the auto while the three others entered the canal. Venkateshwarlu, who was fast asleep, woke up on Tuesday morning but could not find his friends.
When he searched the canal area, he found the clothes of his friends on the canal bank, after which he informed their family members and police. After launching search operations, police found the body of Bharath (30) in the afternoon but the two others could not be traced until dusk.Based on the complaint of family members, a case was registered in connection with the incident, informed Inspector of Police Bhanu Prakash.
