Khammam: Large scale protests against hike in the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders have taken place across the district on Thursday. TRS leaders and cadres took to the streets with protest rallies and burning effigies of the BJP government at the Centre. In Khammam the TRS ranks have taken out a mock funeral procession with an effigy of the Central government and empty cylinders from Transport Minister’s camp office to Yellandu cross roads shouting slogans against the Centre.

Speaking to the media on the occasion SUDA Chairman B Vijay Kumar, Mayor P Neeraja, TRS town president P Nagaraju and others accused the BJP government of looting common man with the hike in the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders. They demanded the Centre to immediately roll back the inflated gas, petrol and diesel prices. The Centre was placing the greatest burden on the common people by increasing the prices without any restraint, they complained.

CPI leaders took out a protest rally against hike in petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders in Khammam on Friday.

In a statement Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar alleged that the Centre conspired to rob the poor. For the Modi government’s gross domestic product (GDP) increase means – Gas, Diesel and Petrol price hike, he ridiculed. The minister alleged that the BJP government has not provided any relief to the people of the country when international oil crude prices were low. Therefore the Centre had no moral authority to raise fuel prices in the wake of the Russia-Ukraine war.

The hike in petrol, diesel and LPG prices was turning into a curse for the common man and the poor. The anti-people, anti-poor Modi government was trying to extort Rs 10,000 crore from the people by increasing petrol, diesel and cooking gas prices, Ajay Kumar said. In a similar protest in Khammam CPI party leaders B Hemanth Rao and Potu Prasad led a rally from the party office to the bus stand centre and burnt the Central government effigy. They warned that if the Centre failed to withdraw the price hike its fall would be imminent.
