Khammam: Two held for robbing bank manager on pretext of offering lift
Khammam CI Satyanarayana Reddy, in a statement, said the two were found moving suspiciously during vehicle inspection at Kodad cross roads and were caught while they were going to Sujatha Nagar in Kothagudem district.
Khammam: Two persons, including a woman, were held on the charge of robbing a private bank manager under the pretext of offering a lift in their car, here on Tuesday.
Khammam CI Satyanarayana Reddy, in a statement, said the two were found moving suspiciously during vehicle inspection at Kodad cross roads and were caught while they were going to Sujatha Nagar in Kothagudem district.
The accused were identified as Daravath Kavitha and Kurra Ayyappa of Hyderabad.
The manager, Domalapalli Mattaiah of Sriram Nagar in Khammam, works in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh and he came into the trap of the accused while he was waiting for a bus at LB Nagar bus station in Hyderabad to come to his native place on Feb 26.
The accused offered him lift stating that they were going to Kothagudem and would drop him at Khammam. When the car reached Ponnekal near Khammam the accused threatened Mattaiah with knives and snatched two ornaments, a mobile phone and Rs 600 from him and threw him out of the car.
The victim lodged a complaint with Khammam Rural police on Feb 27. The arrested were sent to judicial custody, the CI said.
