Mulugu: A youth who was allegedly kidnapped at Shantinagar in Bhupalpally district headquarters on Friday was found murdered in a forest area in Mulugu on Saturday.

According to SS Tadwai SI Srikanth Reddy, locals informed police about a charred body in the forests two kilometres from Medaram. Police visited the spot and on enquiry found that the deceased was Mohammed Basith (20).

The assailants allegedly tied his hands, poured petrol on him, set him on fire and dumped his body in the forest. The youth’s mother, Sabiha, in her complaint to Bhupalpally police, alleged that three persons — Kushal, Bablu and Prashanth — had kidnapped her son in a car.

Financial disputes are said to be behind the murder. Police registered a case on Sabiha’s complaint, conducted a panchnama and shifted the body to hospital for postmortem.
