Hyderabad: Netflix India received an outpouring of support from delighted South Indians on Thursday after it released the track Namma Stories – The South Anthem on its YouTube channel.

Sung by four South Indian artistes, the song features Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam languages and embraces the culture of the vibrant South.

Produced by Supari Studios and directed by Akshay Sundher, the track features ‘Enjoy Enjaami’ fame Tamil rapper Arivu, Kannada rapper Siri Narayan a.k.a SIRI, Malayalam actor, dancer and rapper Neeraj Madhav, and Kerala-born Bengaluru-based rapper Sooraj Cherukat a.k.a Hanumankind. Arivu also rapped the Telugu portion of the song.

A day before the release of the song, Netflix India launched the ‘Netflix India South’ Twitter handle to exclusively post updates about South Indian content on the OTT platform.

“Get ready to drop some adipolis, vera levels, kirraks and sakkaths, because your screens are about to be set on 🔥🔥🔥 #NammaStoriesNammaNetflix. Presenting Namma Stories – a celebration of stories from the south and its new home on Twitter,” Netflix India South tweeted on Thursday.

Within 12 hours of its release, the music video crossed 2 lakh viewers. Viewers appreciated Netflix for being inclusive of all cultures.

“Cheptha neeku oka dhammuna katha. Mana sontha katha, mana South ghanatha. Nuvvu vinnetuga, manassu vipenthaga. Vachei vachei mana lokaniki, Bahubali nundi ee prapanchaniki. Hyderabad biriyani, veedhullo nijanni, vinaandi maa vaani, chudandi kavyanni,” Arivu raps.

Roughly translated, it goes like, “I’ll tell you a powerful story. It’s our own story, about South India’s greatness. A story you want to listen to, a story that will make you proud. Welcome to our world, Bahubali had let the world know. From Hyderabadi biriyani to the real stories on the streets, we got you covered, hear our voices, watch the visuals unfold.”

The song ends with visuals of South Indian actors from movies streaming on Netflix, including Nagarjuna Akkineni in ‘Wild Dog’, Keerthy Suresh from ‘Miss India’, Prabhas in ‘Bahubali’ and Saanve Meghana in ‘Pitta Kathalu.’
