Kishan Reddy asks govt to address drainage issues before taking up Musi beautification
Coming down heavily on Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA), Kishan Reddy said the HYDRAA should not hastily make a decision and maintain restraint while dealing with the house of the poor.
Hyderabad: Stating that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy‘s approach to the Musi riverfront beautification project was detrimental to the poor, union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy said the State government should provide necessary facilities to people whose houses were being demolished in the Musi catchment areas.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Kishan Reddy said a large number of people were residing at the Musi catchment areas for over 40-years and that the government cannot just demolish their houses without providing them some kind of rehabilitation.” Drainage water is discharged into Musi. It is essential to address drainage issues prior to any beautification efforts,” he said.
The State government had announced the Musi riverfront beautification project, but it had not disclosed how it was going to raise Rs. 1.5 lakh crore to implement the project, he said, adding that his party would not keep quiet if the State government goes on demolishing the houses of the poor on one pretext or the other.
