Hyderabad: Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy on Sunday ‘sought the cooperation of the State government to resolve issues pertaining to land acquisition and transfer of State’s share of funds for completing pending railway projects at the earliest.’
In a letter to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Sunday, Kishan Reddy said the Central government was committed to strengthening the railways and the budget presented for the financial year 2022-23 was a testimony of this. The railway budget for Telangana increased by 26 per cent from Rs.2,420 crore in 2021-2022 to Rs.3,048 crore in 2022- 2023.
The railway budget allocation for 2022-2023 was almost three times the average yearly allocation done between 2014 and 2020. The Centre, through these allocations, was setting up new railway lines, doubling railway lines, introducing third lines, electrification, and constructing road over bridges on a mission mode.“I would like to bring to your notice that more than 1,300 kilometres of railway lines works in Telangana have been affected due to delay in transferring State government project cost share and completing land acquisition,” Kishan Reddy said, but did not elaborate on either the pending funds from the State or land acquisition.
