Hyderabad: Union Coal Minister and BJP State unit chief G Kishan Reddy, while urging the Andhra Pradesh government to conduct a comprehensive probe into the allegations that animal fat was used in Tirupati laddus, appealed to political parties and charitable organisations not to sensationalise the issue which was connected with the sentiments of crores of devotees.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, Kishan Reddy said it was an unforgivable crime to use animal fats and fish oil in the laddu prasadam which was considered sacred.

All those responsible for such atrocity should be identified and punished accordingly, he said, adding that strict measures should be taken so that no such incidents were repeated in the future.

Efforts should be made to maintain the faith of lakhs of devotees who regularly visit Lord Venkateswara Swamy, he said.

“I request the AP government to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the matter. The probe should also include the conspiracy to harm Sanatana Dharma and Hindu religious beliefs. Efforts should be made to protect the sanctity of Tirumala and the sentiments of the devotees,” he said.
