Siddipet: Following the request of the farmers living along the Kudavelly Vagu, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has accorded permission to release Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) water into the stream, which will help the farmers to irrigate over 11,000 acres.

The Chief Minister’s decision brought smiles back on the faces of the farmers who were living along the Kudavelly Vagu in Dubbaka Assembly Constituency.

Following requests from the farmers to the Chief Minister in this regard, Finance Minister T Harish Rao has visited Kodakandla area to examine the possibility of releasing the water from KLIS Canal into Kudavelly Vagu, a tributary of Godavari.

Harish Rao telephoned the Chief Minister from the spot and informed him about the possibility of releasing water into Kudavelly if they divert the water from Mallanna Sagar to Konda Pochamma Sagar canal at Kodakandla. The Chief Minister has asked them to initiate the work to release the water immediately.

The Finance Minister and farmers have thanked the Chief Minister for such a swift response. Since multiple check dams were built across Kudavelly in Dubbak constituency, the check dams will remain full of water throughout the summer.

Forest Development Corporation Chairman Vanteru Prathapa Reddy, Superintending Engineer  Kondapochamma Sagar Project Venu, TRS leader Madasu Srinivas and others were present.
