KMC forensic medicine professor faces extortion allegations, enquiry report submitted

Postgraduate students of Kakatiya Medical College’s Department of Forensic Medicine have accused their professor and HoD of allegedly demanding money for thesis records and practical examinations. An enquiry committee submitted its report, while KMC authorities referred it to the State government

Hanamkonda: In an incident that came to light lately, post graduate (PG) students of Department of Forensic Medicine at Kakatiya Medical College (KMC) here accused the Head of the Department of resorting to illicit collection of money from them.

Based on the complaint by the students, the college principal, Dr. Divvela Mohandas has constituted an enquiry committee to probe into the matter and submit a report. According to an office order dated September 4 and issued by the principal, the complaint was received on September 3 through an email.

The students accused Professor and Head of the Department (HoD) of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Dr. Shaik Khaja Mohiuddin of extorting money, causing extreme mental torture, trauma and harassment.

The three-member enquiry committee chaired by MGM Hospital Superintendent Dr. K Ram Kumar Reddy and comprising Professor & HoD, Department of Pediatrics Dr. A. Aparna Government Maternity Hospital, Hanamkonda Superintendent Dr. B. Vijayalakshmi was asked to submit the report within 24-hours.

The committee was said to have duly submitted the report. However, no action was taken against Prof. Mohiuddin so far, the students complained. The KMC authorities stated that they have referred the report to the State government for action and response was awaited.

The students reportedly complained that the Professor in question demanded each student to pay Rs. 30,000 to sign their thesis records; pay another Rs. 20,000 to conduct the practical exams, held on September 11 and 12, in Warangal and to pay Rs. 2 lakh to pass the students in practical tests.
