‘Know Your Army’ mela gets overwhelming response

Hyderabad: In a truly unique opportunity, children from various schools in Hyderabad got a chance to explore high-end artillery guns, communication systems, Nuclear, Biological and Chemical (NBC) warfare suits specially designed for the Indian Army.

The exciting experience was part of the three-day ‘Know Your Army’ mela, which was inaugurated by Governor, Jishnu Dev Varma in the presence of Major General Ajay Misra, GOC, TASA and other senior officers at the historic Golconda Fort on Friday.


The ‘Know Your Army’ mela, being held from 9 am to 5 pm and till Sunday, January 5, is aimed to inspire and motivate citizens, especially the youth. The event also serves as a bridge between the Armed Forces and public, showcasing modernization and inclusivity of the Indian Army. The event showcases cutting-edge military equipment, operational capabilities and indigenous innovations.

Being organised under the aegis of Headquarters Telangana and Andhra Sub Area (HQ TASA) and coordinated by Artillery Centre, Hyderabad, the event also showcases live demonstrations, including Gatka by soldiers of the Punjab regiment.

 Soldiers of the Artillery Centre also displayed Unarmed Combat Martial Arts, which reflects their discipline and skill.

Some of the other attractions for visitors during the course of the ‘Know Your Army’ mela include Symphony and Pipe Band, interactive zones, recruitment booths, photo opportunities with artillery equipment and soldier uniforms, exhibits of army uniforms and gallantry awards.
