Hyderabad: The rift between original Congress leaders and turncoats continues in the Telangana Congress even after more than two-and-a-half years. Original Congress leaders say they are facing discrimination in the hands of turncoat leaders in their respective constituencies.
Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy raised one such complaint with the party leadership. Speaking to mediapersons on Saturday, Rajgopal Reddy said turncoat leaders in constituencies such as Tungaturthy, Nakrekal and others were harassing original Congress leaders. He alleged that they were also getting police cases registered against them.
Rajgopal Reddy made the remarks after meeting TPCC working president T Jagga Reddy. The TPCC working president has been appointed to examine the dispute between Tungaturthy MLA Mandula Samuel and Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy over the appointment of party mandal presidents.
The Munugode MLA said the efforts of loyal Congress leaders to bring the party to power in the State had gone in vain. According to him, turncoat leaders were humiliating loyal party workers and discriminating against them while allotting party posts.
“After the Congress came to power in the State, it is not right to neglect and humiliate loyal leaders. We have to protect Congress leaders and cadre. There is no guarantee that turncoats will not switch loyalties again in the future,” Rajgopal Reddy said.
