Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy displeased over constitution of Yadagirigutta temple board

Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for making unilateral appointments to the Yadadri Devasthanam Board without consulting him, expressing concern over newcomers sidelining senior Congress leaders and voicing dissent over governance issues

Hyderabad: The appointment of Yadagirigutta Devasthanam Board members has turned into a new flashpoint between ‘original’ Congress leaders and turncoats with Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy finding fault with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s decisions.

Significantly, TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud publicly endorsed Rajgopal Reddy’s grievance. Responding to a question at Gandhi Bhavan here, he admitted that the MLA should have been consulted before the Board appointments, and said he would raise the issue with the Chief Minister.

“I am the MLA for Munugode and my constituency falls within Yadadri district. I had absolutely no information regarding the Yadagirigutta Board of Trustees. This is a unilateral decision and it is simply not right. Had they consulted me, I would have ensured at least one member from my constituency is included,” Rajgopal Reddy said, expressing displeasure.

The Munugode MLA said such appalling behaviour would make things very difficult in the party. “I do not wish to comment on the appointment of the Chairman, but surely, the matter of members’ appointments should have been addressed. They lack even that basic sense of propriety,” he said in an interview with a news channel.

Rajgopal Reddy stated that he was in regular contact with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and had met Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. “I continue to participate in all Congress party activities. We remain committed to the party. It would have been appropriate to give us an opportunity in this instance. This is truly terrible,” he said.

The Munugode MLA further said there were many senior leaders who had the experience and expertise on how to run the party, how to make appointments, and how to respect senior leadership. “Do they not know these things?” he asked.

Rajgopal Reddy expressed concern over the state of affairs in Telangana Congress.

Newcomers have flooded the Congress party. The original Congress members—those who genuinely fought for Telangana cause—are gradually fading into the background. A new batch of people from various backgrounds have arrived and everything is now being run by these newcomers, he fumed.

The Munugode MLA has been critical of the Chief Minister and expressed his dissent openly over a few issues like evading Rythu Bharosa disbursement. On Sunday, the Congress party conducted a public meeting in Nalgonda, but he did not participate in it.

“I did not feel like attending the Chief Minister’s meeting in Nalgonda. I had no interest in it. Their way of dealing with things is not good at all. I don’t like it,” Rajgopal Reddy said.

Regardless of the circumstances, a government must work for the people. People do not appreciate mere posturing, excessive talk, or unnecessary fanfare, he stressed.

Meanwhile, the nomination of actor Chiranjeevi’s wife, Surekha Konidela, as a member of the Yadagirigutta Devasthanam Board has raised eyebrows among political observers as Chiranjeevi had gone on record opposing the formation of Telangana State during the statehood agitation.

Several persons took to social media platforms to express their disapproval of the nomination, arguing that the Revanth Reddy government was deliberately encouraging those who had opposed the creation of Telangana.
