Komatireddy says he will not contest next elections without assurance of bumper majority
Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said he would contest the next Assembly elections only if the people of Nalgonda assured him of a bumper majority. He also highlighted development works, irrigation projects and welfare initiatives in the constituency
Nalgonda: Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Sunday said he would not contest the next Assembly elections unless the people of Nalgonda assured him of a bumper majority. The Minister participated in several programmes in the Nalgonda Assembly constituency and interacted with local residents.
Addressing a gathering, Venkat Reddy reportedly said, “In the next elections, you should promise me the highest majority. Otherwise, I will not contest.”
The Nalgonda MLA urged people to support him based on the welfare and development works undertaken in the constituency. “Even if I don’t campaign, assess the development in Nalgonda and vote for me,” he said.
The Minister also said that despite his long political career, he did not own a house. “I live in a rented house in Hyderabad and have no properties. All I have are ancestral lands,” he said.
He assured that every acre in the constituency would receive assured irrigation through the Brahmana Vellemula Project. He added that the SLBC project would provide irrigation to nearly four lakh acres in Nalgonda district by August 2028.
Earlier, Venkat Reddy inaugurated the newly constructed Gram Panchayat building at Kanchanpalli village in Nalgonda mandal. He said the Rs 11-crore Kanchanpalli Lift Irrigation Scheme would be completed by Dasara, ensuring irrigation water to every acre in the village.
The Minister also announced that he would personally distribute silk sarees to all women in the village during the Dasara celebrations.
