Nalgonda: Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy faced embarrassing moments when many teachers left the hall while the Minister was about to address them at a programme here on Friday.
As part of the Teachers’ Day celebrations, a programme was organised at a private function hall to felicitate teachers and present awards.
All seats in the hall were occupied prior to the Minister’s speech. Interestingly, while Nalgonda MP K Raghuveer Reddy addressed the gathering, the teachers remained seated. However, just when the Minister was about to address, many left the hall for lunch.
Irked over their behaviour, the Roads and Buildings Minister took strong objection and gave a “lecture”.
“This is not good on your part. Nearly 50 per cent of the teachers left for lunch. Despite being down with viral fever I came here as a mark of respect towards the teachers,” Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said.
The Minister said he was hurt and wanted to leave the venue but was compelled by the district Collector to stay back.
“Had I left midway from the function, my respect would have increased and your (teachers) respect would have decreased,” Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said, asking the teachers not to repeat such behaviour.
