Hyderabad: Unable to digest Congress party’s poor performance in Huzurabad by-poll, Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy lashed out at the State leadership and said he would strive to revive the party in Telangana.
Congress party had literally lost its ground in Andhra Pradesh but secured nearly 6,000 votes in the Budvel by-poll. On the contrary, here in Huzurabad by-poll, Congress bagged only 3,000 votes, he pointed out.
Tall claims were made by the State leadership that Congress was gaining foothold in Telangana and would win about 72-78 Assembly seats in the next elections and form the government in 2023, he said and added that “A section of leaders had even finalised the portfolios and shared key positions among themselves,”
However, all these claims fell flat as Congress party lost deposit in the Huzurabad by-poll, ridiculed Komatireddy Venkat Reddy while speaking to media persons at CLP office on Saturday.
On the double standards in the party, he said there were few Congress leaders, who in the past had abused Sonia Gandhi and called her a devil. The same leaders were now calling her a Goddess, he said.
Assuring that he would remain in the party till his last, the Bhongir MP said “Congress is my life and AICC president Sonia Gandhi is Goddess to me. I will show my power from tomorrow,”
The Congress MP appealed to the State Government to initiate measures for large scale procurement of paddy across the State. Farmers were being subjected to lot of inconvenience due to poor procurement, he said.
The Bhongir MP said he would launch an agitation in support of farmers from Kamareddy and Yellareddy from Sunday.
