Komuravelly Kalyana Mahotsavam to mark start of annual jathara
The annual Komuravelly Mallanna jathara begins on Sunday with the celestial wedding of the presiding deity at Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple in Siddipet district, with elaborate arrangements in place as thousands of devotees are expected
Siddipet: The Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple at Komuravelly has been tastefully decorated for the annual Kalyana Mahotsavam of the presiding deity, Komuravelly Mallanna, along with his consorts Balija Medalamma and Kethamma on Sunday. The celestial wedding will formally mark the beginning of the annual jathara.
The kalyanam will be performed at 10.45 am at Thota Bavi within the temple premises. Endowments Minister Konda Surekha will present silk vastrams to the presiding deity on the eve of the kalyanam. Jangaon MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and other public representatives are expected to witness the celestial wedding.
Meanwhile, the district administration and police officials have made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the festivities. A large number of devotees from across Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are expected to visit the temple during the jathara period.
