Warangal: Fresh remarks by Konda Sushmita Patel, daughter of Minister Konda Surekha, have intensified speculation over a possible electoral showdown in Parkal, after she openly challenged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. She appears to have taken up a fight against the entire State Congress and questioned repeated insults to the BC leadership within the party.
Sushmita, who recently described herself on Instagram as “Upcoming Parkal MLA Konda Sushmita Patel”, said she was ready to contest from Parkal, even as an independent. She challenged Revanth Reddy, or his family members, to enter the fray against her. She declared that she would construct a house in Parkal and reside there.
Her remarks assume significance as Revanth Reddy had recently said sitting MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy would contest from Parkal again. Her father and former MLA Konda Murali had earlier announced that his daughter would contest from the constituency.
Sushmita also targeted Revanth Reddy over his claim of remaining Chief Minister for 10 years, reminding him of his defeat in the Kodangal Assembly election earlier. She pointed out that even former Chief Minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy never made such claims in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. She questioned the political relevance of several Congress leaders and asked why her father, Konda Murali, was not considered for any positions.
She also raised the issue of representation of BCs, questioning the omission of Minister Ponnam Prabhakar’s photograph from an event for distribution of Indiramma Houses in Hyderabad. She asked why TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud was being silent on alleged injustice to BCs. Sushmita sought to know what advice Rajya Sabha MP Vem Narender Reddy gave the Chief Minister, except for helping his brother float a shell company to loot Rs 200 crore. She warned that any counterattack against her would prompt her to expose the true faces of the Congress leaders.
