Koppula Eshwar fetes IIT and medical toppers of TSWREIS
A total of 215 students of TSWREIS who were from underprivileged background proved their mettle in the country’s toughest Joint Entrance Examination and National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test.

Hyderabad: Scheduled Caste Development Minister Koppula Eshwar on Friday felicitated students of Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions (TSWREIS) who secured seats in IITs/NITs and MBBS during the academic year 2020-21.
A total of 215 students of TSWREIS who were from underprivileged background proved their mettle in the country’s toughest Joint Entrance Examination and National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test.
For the first time in the history of TSWREIS, 80 students secured seats in IITs/NITs, while 135 students got seats in MBBS. These students were first generation learners, and sons and daughters of beedi workers, small farmers, agricultural labourers, road-side tea sellers, vegetable vendors, masons, auto drivers, peons, security guards, etc.
Speaking at the felicitation ceremony held at Social Welfare Residential College Gowlidoddi, here the Minister said “it’s a golden lettered moment in the history of government residential educational institutions and thanks to the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for approving free long term intensive coaching programmes to prepare the bright SC/ST students for competitive exams on par with the private institutions.” The Minister called upon the students to serve poor communities and pay back to the society.
TSWREIS secretary Dr RS Praveen Kumar also participated in the felicitations.
