Siddipet: Dubbak MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy has demanded that officials of the Prohibition and Excise Department close all belt shops in the villages of his constituency. During a review meeting with officials of various departments at Raipole on Tuesday, the MLA said liquor consumption had increased alarmingly among villagers as the belt shops remained open round the clock.

He lamented that youngsters were also getting addicted to liquor at a very young age. Reddy said the operation of belt shops had pushed many families into crisis as the breadwinners were becoming addicted to liquor. The BRS MLA also asked panchayat officials, sarpanches and residents to stop using plastic in villages. He urged them to make a collective effort to make the villages plastic-free. Reddy also discussed the pending road works in his constituency. Accusing the Congress government of not releasing funds after coming to power, the BRS MLA said the roads in Dubbak had been completely damaged.
