Kothagudem: Police have seized dry ganja weighing about 1,005 kg and arrested two persons at Bhadrachalam in the district.
Superintendent of Police, Sunil Dutt, giving details of the case to the media at Bhadrachalam, said the town police who were conducting vehicle inspections at the local forest check post, stopped a lorry. They found 1,005 kg of cannabis worth about Rs. 2.01 crore in the vehicle. The police arrested the lorry driver and cleaner, Satyanarayana Prajapati and Karan Singh of Dandam village, Agar Malwa district in Madhya Pradesh and seized the lorry.
During interrogation, the accused said the cannabis was being smuggled from a forest area near Sileru to Madhya Pradesh. The substance was purchased from a person called Waseem of Odisha and was being transported to Eashwar Singh and Prem Singh of Madhya Pradesh.
Manugur ASP, P Shabarish, Inspector of Police, T Swamy and SI, Madhu Prasad were present.
