Kothagudem: Health and education were the main two focus areas for the GSR Charitable Trust, with focus on taking quality health services to the rural poor, said the Trust chairman and Director of Public Health Dr. Gadala Srinivasa Rao.
The Trust organised a mega free health camp in Kothagudem on Saturday for people in agency areas in the district and neighbouring areas.
In a statement here on Sunday, Dr. Rao informed that nearly 6,348 persons registered in the day-long camp. A total of 100 specialist and super specialist doctors from Yashoda, Medicare and Akbar Eye Hospitals in Hyderabad along with 100 support staff participated in the camp.
All those who underwent tests were given free medicines. In addition, 1245 people underwent eye examinations and 640 persons were given spectacles free of cost. Similarly 850 ECG, 456 ultrasound tests and 264 2D ECHO tests were also conducted, Dr. Rao said.
Around 300 volunteers rendered services at the mega health camp, he said, adding that those in need, would be treated for free of cost at corporate hospitals in Hyderabad. He thanked everyone who worked hard for the success of the mega medical camp.
The GSR Trust was conducting a number of charitable activities such as organising health camps and extending financial aid to meritorious students from poor families to pursue higher education, he noted. District Collector Anudeep D inaugurated the camp.
