Kothagudem: In continuation of their protests against police camps, adivasis staged a massive protest against setting up a CRPF camp in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh State.

A large number of adivasis holding placards and with a demand to stop the work of construction of police camp and culvert, have taken out a protest rally to Bhairamgarh in the district on Monday. But the police stopped them on the way at Pundri.

The residents of Pundri, Takilod, Belnar, Markapal, Bagoli, Satwa, Rekhbaya and other villages in the district opposed the construction work of Pundri-Bodli culvert in Bijapur. After being stopped by the police, the villagers raised slogans against the administration.

Villagers claimed that water, forest land belonged to them and no harm should be caused to them. It might be noted that adivasis in different areas of Bastar such as Silger, Pushner, Bechapal and Kanker made a similar demand.
