Kothagudem: The ashes of four farmers and a journalist, who were killed in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident in Uttar Pradesh, were immersed in river Godavari at Bhadrachalam in the district on Friday.
The ashes were brought from the respective places of the victims from Uttar Pradesh by All India Agriculture Workers Union (AIAWU) leaders for immersion in the river here. The AIAWU national general secretary B Venkat, former MP Dr Medium Babu Rao and others took part in the ritual.
Speaking to the media, Venkat demanded the repeal of three black Farm Laws, the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2021 and four Labour Codes which the Central government introduced in the Parliament recently. He demanded the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to step down if the Centre failed to withdraw the above laws, codes and the bill. He also wanted Union Minister Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra, who allegedly mowed down the farmers and the journalist, seriously punished.
Venkat also wanted Ajay Mishra be sacked from the Union Cabinet immediately. He warned that if the Centre fails to respond to the farmers’ demands, the movement against the Central government will be intensified. Rythu Sangham leader Kasani Ailaiah, Vyavasaya Karmika Sangham State vice president Annavarapu Kanakaiah, CITU district secretary AJ Ramesh, its district vice president K Brahma Chary and others were present.
