Kothagudem: Cherla police extended financial assistance to a tribal student who secured a seat in IIT, Varanasi. Cherla Inspector of Police, Boddu Ashok, gave away an amount of Rs 12,000 to the student, Karam Srilatha, to help her meet her educational expenses, at Cherla police station in the district on Tuesday.
The meritorious student hails from a poor Koya family at Mamidigudem village in Cherla mandal. She got admission in B Tech (Ceramic Engineering) course offered by the IIT by securing 919th rank in JEE (Advanced) in ST category.
The CI Ashok, CRPF 141 Battalion Assistant Commandant Subir Kumar Mandal, SIs Raju Varma and Venkatappaiah also assured the student’s family that they would support the student in her higher studies. It might be noted that IT Minister KT Rama Rao also extended financial assistance to the student, who met the Minister along with her parents in Hyderabad on Monday. The Minister also promised them to take care of the girl’ education till she completes her studies at the reputed IIT.
CI B Ashok extended financial assistance to K Srilatha at Cherla in Kothagudem district on Tuesday.
