Kothagudem: Discharge duties or face music, Councillors warned
The councillors if not interested in the implementation of Pattana Pragathi and managing affairs in their wards have to quit the posts, Collector stated.
Kothagudem: District Collector D Anudeep directed the municipal officials to issue a show-cause notice to the councillor of ninth ward in Kothagudem Municipality for failing to ensure cleanliness in the ward.
The Collector visited many wards in the municipality on Monday inspecting Pattana Pragathi works and found sanitation conditions in several wards in poor condition. Expressing displeasure at the negligent attitude of the councilors, he told them to act responsibly in addressing issues in their respective wards.
Anudeep said many municipal wards were dotted with wild bushes and dilapidated structures and the ninth ward was full of problems as the local councillor failed to monitor Pattana Pragathi works and achieve the programme parameters.
He cautioned the ninth ward councillor M Rupa, that she would be suspended if she fails to deliver her duties in proper manner in future. The councillors if not interested in the implementation of Pattana Pragathi and managing affairs in their wards have to quit the posts, he stated.
The Collector expressed anger at the poor maintenance of a park at Ramavaram. The residents have complained that the park lacked a power supply and there was the growth of wild bushes as a result it was being used by locals for drinking alcohol in the park.
Anudeep said he would take up surprise inspections in the wards in another one week’s time if there was no improvement in the situation the concerned ward councillors would be suspended.
As part of his tour in the municipality, the Collector visited the residence cum nursery of an environmentalist, Rayi Venkataiah at SCB Nagar in Ramavaram. He appreciated the vast collection of exotic and medicinal plants being grown by Venkataiah at his nursery.
The Collector informed that the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao at a recent conference, told the Collectors to visit homes of individuals spreading greenery and felicitated Venkataiah with a shawl in honour of his contributions to the society.
