Kothagudem: Employees of the Irrigation Department have demanded payment of agency allowance for which they were eligible.
A delegation of Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers union leaders and irrigation department employees submitted a memorandum to the ITDA Project Officer P Gautham on Tuesday in support of their demand.
The union leaders R Phani Kumar and D Narasimha Rao complained that employees of all government departments were being paid Additional House Rent Allowances (AHRA)/ Special Compensatory Allowance (SCA) allowance but irrigation department employees were not paid the same.
As per the government rules the AHRA/SCA allowance has to be paid to all the government employees working in Scheduled Areas. But the pay and accounts department, Kothagudem has stopped paying the allowance for reasons unknown, they said.
They informed that the ITDA PO promised to address their issue and added that if the issue was not resolved soon the employees of the irrigation department would take to the streets to stage protests to get their demand fulfilled. The union leaders G Balakrishna, Shyamala Srinivas, K Nagabhushanam, Narasimha Rao, Veeranna, Gandhi Ganesh and others were present.
