Kothagudem man strangles wife to death, surrenders to police
A woman was allegedly strangled to death by her husband, an auto-rickshaw driver, in Kothagudem after repeated quarrels over his alcohol and betting addiction. The accused later surrendered to police. A case has been registered and investigation launched

Kothagudem: A woman was killed, allegedly by her husband, who later surrendered before the police at Burgampadu mandal headquarters on Tuesday.
The accused, Shamsheer Pasha, an auto-rickshaw driver, reportedly strangled his wife Mahmooda Begum (30) to death at their residence in Pamula Saheb Street during the early hours. The couple, who married after a love affair, had two children.
According to family members, Pasha was addicted to alcohol and online betting, which his wife opposed. She frequently urged him to give up the habits, leading to repeated quarrels. On Monday night, the couple had another argument, after which the crime is believed to have taken place, the woman’s mother told the media.
The family learnt of Mahmooda’s death when her son went to his grandmother’s house nearby and said his mother was not waking up. Based on a complaint from the family, local Sub-Inspector Meda Prasad registered a case and launched an investigation.
