Kothagudem: Yellandu police have invoked the PD Act against a habitual offender, Sapavath Venkanna, who has been involved in several ganja smuggling cases.
On the instructions of SP B Rohith Raju and Yellandu DSP Chandrabhanu, Yellandu CI Suresh submitted documents to the higher authorities for invoking the PD Act against Venkanna of Kashiram Thanda in Kesamudram mandal of Mahabubabad district.
Cases were registered against him at Yellandu, Bhadrachalam and Hyderabad’s Rajendranagar police stations. After receiving a copy of the PD Act orders from the higher-ups, CI Suresh shifted the accused from Khammam sub-jail to Cherlapally jail and handed over the orders to the accused in the presence of officials there.
SP Rohith Raju said that because of criminals like Venkanna, many youths were getting addicted to drugs and destroying their precious future, which was why the PD Act was invoked against him.
