Kothagudem police seizes ganja worth Rs 4.15 crore, two held
The accused duo had concealed ganja in a specially made chamber behind the engine cabin.

Kothagudem: In a joint operation by Julurupad and CCS police, a huge quantity of ganja was seized in the district and two persons were arrested on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media at Julurupad on Wednesday, Superintendent of Police B Rohith Raju informed that during vehicle inspections at Padamata Narsapuram under Julurupad police station limits, the police personnel intercepted a mini-truck.
They found and seized ganja weighing around 830.54 kg which was concealed in a specially made chamber behind the engine cabin. The worth of seized ganja was Rs 4.15 crore. The substance was procured at Tulasipaka village of Alluri Sitaramaraju district of Andhra Pradesh and was being smuggled to New Delhi, the police official said.
Two drivers, Jasram and Ram Kumar of Madhya Pradesh were remanded to judicial custody. Cases were booked against two buyers- Pradeep Ramsevak Sharma of Madhya Pradesh and Deepak Chowdary of New Delhi; sellers Kilo Shankar, V Babu Rao, Rama Rao, Ramulu and Kilo Saibabu of ASR district. The vehicle and two mobile phones were also seized, the SP said.
The district police have been working hard to curb ganja smuggling. As part of such efforts 8, 078 kg ganja was seized in 112 cases in 2024 while 3002 kg ganja was seized so far in the year 2025, Rohith Raju added.
The SP appreciated Julurupad CI Indrasena Reddy, SI Ravi, CCS Inspector Ramakanth, SIs Praveen and Rama Rao and staff for seizing ganja and arresting the accused.
