Kothagudem: Police arrested five persons and seized dry ganja worth Rs 47.68 lakh from them at Housing Board Colony here on Thursday. DSP G Venkateshwara Babu informed media persons that a team of police while conducting vehicle inspections found two cars moving suspiciously. Upon inspection of the vehicles, police found around 238.4 kg ganja hidden beneath plastic vegetable trays in the cars.
The accused, Gopal Sharma, Jayadeep Yadav, Malviya Rajesh, Manish Sharma and Abhishek Rathod of Madhya Pradesh were arrested. Two other accused, Akshay of Madhya Pradesh and Pande of Chhattisgarh are absconding, the DSP said.
The accused have bought the substance at Kunta on Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh borders. It was being smuggled to Indore in Madhya Pradesh. CI Guruswamy and SI Mahesh were present.
