Kothagudem: SCCL gets five awards for its green energy initiatives

Kothagudem: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) bagged awards in five categories simultaneously for its green energy initiatives.
The awards were present for solar power plants construction, management and actions taken as a ‘Net zero positive company’. The company director (E&M), D Satyanarayana Rao and general manager (Solar) GS Janaki Ram received the awards at the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Annual Solar Awards Conference held recently at ‘Suryacon’ in Hyderabad.
Following were the categories in which the company bagged the awards; fastest decarbonising C and I coal company of the year (PSU)-fastest development of solar power plants, business and leadership excellence award, civil engineering team of the year: best corporate net zero strategy, project innovation of the year- 5MW floating solar plant (In engineering, design and construction category) and best performing project of the year – SCCL I0MW Bhupalpally solar plant.
Satyanarayana Rao explained about Singareni’s diversification process and the steps being taken to become a net zero positive company and how SCCL was setting up solar power plants to overcome the challenges in the solar power industry.
Similarly the importance of energy storage systems was explained and the plans to install them were explained. Singareni has achieved the rare feat of being the first government organisation to receive five awards at the same time, he said.
