Kothagudem: School headmaster gets 21-year jail for raping girl students
The court also imposed a fine on the suspended headmaster who was arrested after one of the victim's mother complained

Kothagudem: A suspended headmaster of government primary school was on Friday sentenced to 20 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for raping minor girl students of the school in December 2020. Additional District Judge Mohammad Abdul Rafi found the 40-year-old accused Dodda Sunil Kumar guilty under relevant provisions of the POCSO Act and sentenced him to undergo 20 years of rigorous imprisonment.
The court also found him accused under IPC Section 506 and served him one-year imprisonment and the jail term shall run subsequently. The court also imposed a total fine of Rs 11,000 on the accused. According to the prosecution, the accused raped the minor on the school premises. Based on the complaint filed by the girl’s mother Laxmidevipalli SI, K Anjaiah registered a case and arrested the accused.
Bhadrachalam ASP and the then in-charge DSP of Kothagudem, Dr Vineeth G investigated the case. SP, Sunil Dutt appreciated the ASP, Public Prosecutors V Purushotham and K Venkateshwar Rao, ACP P Phani Kumar, CI Guruswamy SI Anjaiah, court duty officers Ramu, Veerababu and Hargopal for making efforts for the conviction of the accused in the case.
