Kothagudem: The Student Federation of India (SFI) district committee appealed to the State government to start physical classes in educational institutions across the State. The SFI district secretary B Veerabhadram, in a statement here on Thursday, wanted the GO 4 issued ordering closure of educational institutions should be revoked immediately to start direct classes.
He said it was not right to declare holidays for educational institutions on the pretext of Covid-19. Such decisions were making students from economically backward social classes lag behind in academic standards. Instead of closing all educational institutions, the government could close the schools and colleges in the mandals where the severity of Covid spread was high. The recently announced intermediate first-year results showed the ill effects of frequent closure of educational institutions.
Many students in Kothagudem district have dropped out of school because of financial problems due to the Covid crisis. The students in agency mandals like Gundala, Allapalli, Cherla, Dummugudem and others were not able to attend online classes due to the poor mobile connectivity, Veerabhadram said. Hence keeping the future of students and maintaining educational standards educational institutions should immediately be reopened, he added.
