Kothagudem: Superintendent of Police B Rohith Raju handed over rewards sanctioned by the Telangana government to 10 Maoists of different cadres who had surrendered to Kothagudem police recently.
The government had announced the rewards based on the cadres held by the Maoists before their surrender to the police. At a programme held here on Saturday, the SP distributed a sum of Rs 55.60 lakh in the form of cheques to the members.
Among those who received the rewards were one State committee member, one divisional committee member, six area committee members and two squad members. The SP inquired about their current circumstances and offered guidance to them.
He advised them not to squander the reward money on luxuries, but instead utilise it prudently to establish a sustainable livelihood. The SP assured the Maoists, who surrendered after being inspired by the ‘Operation Cheyutha’ initiative, that the district police would stand by them.
He further stated that, in addition to providing rehabilitation, the department has been ensuring that the surrendered Maoists receive all forms of benefits and entitlements due to them from the government.
