Kothagudem: Taliperu project gates lifted to release excess water

Kothagudem: There has been a brief respite from rains that lashed the district for the past couple of days.
The weather remained cloudy and major parts of the district remained dry until afternoon hours on Tuesday. A couple of mandals received light rainfall.
With rainfall in its upper catchment area in Chhattisgarh Taliperu project in Cherla mandal in the district was receiving huge inflows. There has been an inflow of 34,900 cusecs into the project.
Officials have lifted 19 gates of the reservoir to release 36,700 cusecs of excess water down stream. The residents in the villages on the banks of river were alerted.
