Kothagudem’s lad Raj Thalluri makes directorial debut with Venkat starrer ‘Harudu’
Kothagudem youth Raj Thalluri is making his Tollywood directorial debut with Harudu starring actor Venkat. The film, produced by VR Entertainments, is set for worldwide release on May 15 and is expected to later stream on leading OTT platforms
Kothagudem: Over a decade of hard work and artistic passion has helped a youth from Kothagudem, Raj Thalluri, make his directorial debut in Tollywood with the mass entertainer ‘Harudu’ starring actor Venkat.
Produced under the banner of VR Entertainments, the film is set to hit screens worldwide on May 15. Raj has written the story, dialogues and screenplay. The cast includes Natasha, Hebba Patel, Saloni, comedian Ali and Srihari as the antagonist. Mani Zenna has composed the music.
Incidentally, the movie marks a comeback for actor Venkat, who entertained audiences with blockbuster films such as Sri Sita Ramula Kalyanam Chutamu Rarandi, Annayya, Prema Kosam and Siva Rama Raju, and recently appeared in OG starring Pawan Kalyan.
Raj, a self-made man, told Telangana Today that since his school and college days in Kothagudem, he had actively involved himself in writing and directing skits for cultural events, and this continued while working in a pharmacy company in Hyderabad.
He left the job in 2014 and moved to the film industry to realise his dream of proving himself as a film director. He worked as an assistant director for Kinnerasani movie and as a ghost director for Ganna movie before taking up the task of directing Harudu. He said his journey in the Telugu film industry has been challenging and reached fruition with the release of Harudu.
Raj noted that he had faced several challenges during the shooting of Harudu and overcame them with teamwork, besides the support and dedication of film hero Venkat, who poured his heart and soul into the project.
He believes that the movie would entertain Telugu audiences as it has all the required elements. The movie trailer as well as songs released sometime back received critical acclaim. It portrays current social trends and is packed with action sequences.
Raj informed that Harudu would also be released on OTT platforms as talks are underway with Amazon, Aha, ETV Win and Sun Nxt. He thanked the direction team and hoped the film would achieve success.
